A VERY RARE 12" ACETATE WITH 29 MINUTES OF MUSIC RECORDED AT SHIELD STUDIOS, KETTERING IN 1969
Commercially unreleased 12" acetate recorded at Shield Studios, Kettering UK in 1969. The disc was acquired from Barry Noble. Barry worked as an engineer at the studio and later went on to record for Columbia Records and work at Abbey Road studios. Pink Cheeks who later became Diabolus recorded an album that was released without their knowledge on the Bellaphon label in Germany. That album, later released with a title of High Tones has been bootlegged in many formats and was eventually released with the band's knowledge and permission on the Sunrise label in 2004. To my knowledge, this was a cd only release.
TOR Records had the disc restored and remaster by Kenneth Winkler at weyrerton.com in Innsbruck, Austria in the Summer of 2019. The results were outstanding so we had five 12" lathe cut discs cut by Phil Pio at 3.45 RPM in the UK in order to test the newly mastered music. The Pink Cheeks sleeve used here was designed by Gavin Morrow from an image supplied by one of the band members. These discs were given away to local radio stations as they were keen to hear the results. I have made contact with the two remaining members of the band and they plan to release a previously unreleased version of the Diabolus album. There is a very long story here but there isn't the space. The music on the Pink Cheeks acetate will get released one day.
